New Chip Design Encrypts Images at the Pixel Level for Secure Imaging

Researchers developed SecurePix, a CMOS-compatible pixel sensor that encrypts image data directly within each pixel using ferroelectric transistors, preventing data exposure throughout the imaging pipeline. The technology reduces AI recognition accuracy from 99% to under 10% on encrypted images while maintaining low power consumption, offering hardware-level security for sensitive visual data.
